MOKGOLOBOTO – The man who tragically lost his life in a multi-vehicle crash on the R36 near Morokolotsi Achaar Farm in Mokgolobotho, under the Greater Tzaneen Municipality, has been identified as Matimu “Dash” Shingange (36).

Matimu, fondly known as “Dash,” was a well-known taxi driver on the Mokgoloboto to Tzaneen route. He hailed from Zanghoma Village and was widely regarded as a friendly, dedicated driver and a respected member of the community.

The fatal crash occurred on Wednesday, October 15, involving three vehicles — a Toyota Hiace minibus taxi, a Toyota Etios, and a Scania truck.

Four other people sustained serious injuries and were rushed to hospital for urgent medical attention.

The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety has since urged motorists to be extra cautious and adhere to road safety rules.

“We particularly remind drivers of heavy motor vehicles, buses, and minibuses to prioritize safety, avoid overloading, and obey traffic regulations,” the department said in a statement.

The sudden passing of Dash has left commuters and fellow drivers deeply saddened, as he was a familiar face to many who relied on his daily service.

Details of his memorial service and funeral will be released.
