Two illegal Zim nationals remanded in custody after being nabbed for possession of dangerous weapons in Tzaneen.

TZANEEN- The two illegal Zimbabwean migrants arrested after being caught red handed for possession of dangerous weapons, have been remanded in police custody by the Tzaneen magistrate court on Monday,12.

The two Zimbabwean foreign nationals aged 25 and 30, made a brief appearance in the Tzaneen magistrate’s court on Monday, facing criminal charges of being in possession of various dangerous weapons and illegal migration.

The matter was postponed to Tuesday,10 October 2022 for a formal bail application and further investigations with the suspects kept in custody.

The two undocumented foreign nationals were arrested at Agatha Street in Tzaneen CBD on Saturday by the local police after receiving a tip-off from a concerned member of the public residing in town.

Tzaneen Police Spokesperson Sergeant Maurice Nkhwashu said ” upon receiving the tip-off, the police swiftly rushed to Agatha Street and stopped and searched the suspects fitting the tip-off description wearing long coats and woolen hats which can also be used for balaclava hats”.

The police found the two suspicious males fully armed from head to toe with various dangerous weapons such as an axe, panga, slasher, button operated knife, sjambok and balaclava hats”.

The crimes recorded by the police around Tzaneen CBD this month so far, includes three cases of robberies at Sapekoe drive, station road and next to magic build. Six house breakings and theft cases at Flora Park, College 2000, Rixaka funerals, at Peace, Lushof streets and two theft of motor vehicles at Flora and Medi parks.

Nkhwashu said the police investigations have unfolded to determine if these two illegal foreign suspects are not linked to the crimes which have been happening in Tzaneen CBD and surrounding areas.

” We are further appealing to anyone who had been robbed to come forward and report the cases to the police” he said.
