SEKGOPO – Grade 11 learners at Mohumi Secondary School in Sekgopo received a life-changing donation of brand-new Qhubeka bicycles on Thursday, September 18.

A total of 102 bicycles were handed over through a partnership between Qhubeka Charity, Absa South Africa, and ZZ2 Farming.

According to Qhubeka, the initiative will give learners a faster and safer way to get to school. What was once a long and exhausting walk will now be an energizing ride that opens doors to brighter futures.

The bicycles, assembled on-site, were distributed during a special handover ceremony where learners proudly received their red bikes and yellow helmets.

The donation is expected to boost school attendance, reduce dropouts, and give young people greater mobility.

“This is more than just a bike—it’s a key to unlocking potential,” said a Qhubeka representative.

Absa South Africa, a proud supporter of Qhubeka, funded the initiative as part of its commitment to education and community upliftment. ZZ2 Farming played a vital role in coordinating and engaging with the local community to make the event possible.

Qhubeka, which means “to progress” in isiXhosa, has already transformed thousands of lives across South Africa, particularly in rural and underserved areas, through its bicycle mobility programs.

For the learners of Mohumi Secondary, every pedal now brings them closer to their dreams.
