BOLOBEDU – A well-known local pastor from Bolobedu South has been arrested after allegedly dousing his lover with boiling water and pointing a firearm at her during a heated altercation.

The shocking incident reportedly occurred at the girlfriend’s home in Mokopane, where an argument between the pair escalated into violence. The victim suffered severe burns on both her breasts after the pastor allegedly poured hot water on her.

Following the incident, police swiftly arrested the pastor, who is described as a self-proclaimed evangelist known in local ministry circles.

He briefly appeared before the Mokopane Magistrate’s Court, where his case was postponed to allow for the referral of his charges to separate jurisdictions.

According to police, the suspect faces two charges — attempted murder and pointing of a firearm. His case will now be heard in two different courts: on Monday, 27 October 2025, he is scheduled to appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court for the firearm charge, and on Thursday, 30 October 2025, he will appear before the Tzaneen Magistrate’s Court for the attempted murder charge.

The ANC Youth League in the Waterberg Region has condemned the incident, expressing outrage and calling for justice.

The organization also pledged its support to the victim, stating that they would oppose any attempt to have the suspect released on bail.

Police investigations into the matter are ongoing
