POLOKWANE– The University of Limpopo community has been left in shock following the discovery of a student’s body at the Gate 1 residence on campus.
The tragic incident unfolded when the student was found deceased in his room, with his body in an advanced state of decomposition, suggesting he may have passed away days before the discovery.
Campus security made the grim discovery after fellow students reported a foul smell emanating from the room. Upon investigation, they found the student’s lifeless body, triggering an immediate response from the university and local authorities.
The identity of the student has not been made public, pending notification of the family. Police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of death, though no foul play is suspected at this stage.
The university community is deeply saddened by the incident, which has raised concerns about the well-being of students, especially in residences.
