Sixty tablets and one laptop worth R163 000 robbed at local school in Sekgosese

SEKGOSESE – Police in Sekgosese are investigating a robbery incident in which valuable items, including sixty tablets and one laptop worth R163 000, were stolen from a local primary school in Lemondokop village.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, 24 February 2026, at approximately 00:40.

It is alleged that a male security officer was on duty when he was confronted and overpowered by four unknown male suspects. The suspects were reportedly armed with firearms and wearing balaclavas.

Police say the suspects allegedly broke down a door and gained access to a safe where the electronic devices were stored. After taking the items, they reportedly tied up the security officer and fled the scene in a getaway vehicle.

The security officer later managed to free himself and reported the matter to the South African Police Service.
