LEBOWAKGOMO – Police in Lebowakgomo, Limpopo, are appealing to members of the public for assistance in locating a missing two-year-old boy, Mokgethwa Makgoale, from Mashite Village, Mahake Section.
The toddler reportedly went missing on Monday, 05 January 2026, at around 11:00. According to information, Mokgethwa was playing with other children, the oldest aged seven, who later went to nearby mountains to collect wild fruit.
The group allegedly instructed the toddler to return home as he was too young to accompany them, but he never arrived.
The child’s grandmother became aware of his disappearance when the other children returned home without him. Community members immediately began searching for the child, and the matter was subsequently reported to the police.
An extensive search by police and the community continued until late on Monday without success. The search operation resumed early on Tuesday, led by Lebowakgomo SAPS, with support from the K9 Unit and local residents.
Police urge anyone who may have information that could assist in locating the child to contact the nearest police station immediately.
