TURFLOOP – The University of Limpopo has released the identity of the student who was found dead in his room on Friday, November 7.

The institution confirmed that the first-year Bachelor of Commerce student from Mount Frere, Eastern Cape, discovered on Sovenga Hill, was Anga “Shaddy” Mxoliswa (19).

It is alleged that the student may have taken his own life, although investigations are ongoing.

The university has urged students to make use of its free on-campus mental health and counselling services, emphasizing that no challenge is too difficult to seek help for.

To honour his memory, the University of Limpopo will hold a candlelight ceremony today, Friday, November 14, 2025, at 17:00 in Thami Square.

Shaddy, born on June 20, 2004, tragically passed away on November 7, 2025.

He is expected to be laid to rest this weekend in the Eastern Cape, where his family is preparing for his funeral.

The ceremony at UL will serve both as a tribute to his life and a reminder of the importance of supporting mental well-being among students.
