POLOKWANE-Rewriting your matric exams is a great opportunity for learners to improve their matric results. Improving their matric exam results can often lead to an increased amount of study opportunities at the tertiary education level in South Africa.

One of the main ways to improve matric results is by doing a matric rewrite. This means that the exam will be completely rewritten.

Should candidates who are participating in the upcoming 2023 October/November examination period still feel unsatisfied, those who were writing their National Senior Certificate exams can apply to write the 2024 rewrite examinations.

Registrations for the 2024 May/June matric rewrite exams closes today, individuals who feel like they have an incomplete senior certificate qualification and are interested in participating are encouraged to apply to avoid missing the deadline.

When Does 2024 May/June Matric Rewrite Registrations Close?

Registration for the 2024 May/June exams opened on Monday, 2 October 2023 and closes on 9 February 2024 and can be done online or in person at a provincial education district office or at an examination centre they previously used.

How To Apply For Matric Rewrites

You will need a copy of your ID and your Matric certificate or statement of results to register. Once you have compiled all the necessary documentation, you may visit the local district office of your provincial education department to apply for a Matric rewrite.

The following opportunities to rewrite exist:

National Senior Certificate (NSC) supplementary exams which are usually in March

National Senior Certificate (NSC) progressed learners (learners who wrote the NSC the previous year but did not sit for all 6 subjects) which are usually in June

Part-time NSC candidates (learners who attempted the NSC examinations post 2015) which are usually in November
