POLOKWANE – A 34-year-old woman is among seven suspects arrested in connection with a business robberythat took place at the Ice Cream Factory in Polokwane’s CBD on Monday, 03 November 2025, at around 09:00.
According to police, the suspects stormed into the factory, accosted employees, and robbed them of cash, various items, and cellphones before fleeing the scene.
An intelligence-driven operation was launched immediately after the incident. Within an hour, police arrested the suspects and recovered four firearms with live ammunition, stolen goods, and a white Audi S3 believed to have been used during the robbery.
Acting on a tip-off, operational teams traced the suspects to a safe house in Zorra Section, Solomondale, within the Sebayeng policing area near Mankweng. The multidisciplinary team included the Provincial Tracking Team, Provincial Investigation Unit, Capricorn District Detectives, Mankweng Task Team, Sebayeng Crime Prevention, and private security partners.
Upon arrival, officers found the suspects consuming alcohol. One suspect reportedly opened fire on police and fled, while six male suspects aged between 28 and 52, all from Mamelodi in Gauteng, and a 34-year-old female homeowner were arrested on the spot.
Police confirmed that the recovered Audi S3 was indeed used in the Polokwane robbery, and several stolen items were also seized.
The suspects face multiple charges, including business robbery, possession of illegal firearms and ammunition, and possession of stolen goods. They are expected to appear before the Mankweng Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 05 November 2025.
Investigations are ongoing, with authorities working to link the suspects to other business robberies committed across Limpopo, Gauteng, and Mpumalanga.
Acting Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Major General Jan Scheepers, commended the collaborative efforts of all the units involved.
“The swift tracking and arrest of these suspects demonstrate the SAPS’s unwavering commitment to dismantling organised criminal groups. Limpopo will never be a playground for criminals — we, together with our communities, will guard it with the jealousy it deserves,”
