POLOKWANE – A 43-year-old male suspect arrested following the brutal murder of his 31-year-old girlfriend at Ga-Rampheri village in Ga-Molepo on Saturday morning, 19 July 2025, at approximately 10:00.
Police were alerted and responded swiftly to the crime scene. Upon arrival, officers found the lifeless body of the female victim lying on a bed in a pool of blood, with multiple open wounds on her body.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim, who was reportedly from Bethel in Ga-Molepo, had an altercation with the suspect prior to the attack. It is alleged that the suspect used a sharp object during the assault, resulting in fatal injuries.
The suspect was arrested on the scene and is currently in police custody. A case of murder has been opened, and investigations are continuing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident, but domestic violence cannot be ruled out.
The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has strongly condemned this incident and welcomed the swift arrest of the suspect.
“We will continue to act decisively against acts of gender-based violence. We urge members of the public to seek help in resolving conflicts and to refrain from resorting to violence,” said Lieutenant General Hadebe.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Mankweng Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 21 July 2025.
