Police have traced and located the white Volkswagen Polo linked to the murder. Mongale’s lifeless body was discovered dumped in a field in Lombardy, Johannesburg.

The investigation, which began at a lodge in Kew, Johannesburg, eventually led officers to KwaMashu. There, the suspect’s vehicle was tracked down and seized. An elderly man, believed to be the owner of the vehicle, has been arrested.

The National Crime Intelligence Unit, in collaboration with the Anti-Kidnapping Task Team, recovered the vehicle at a panel beater’s workshop in Phoenix, Durban. Traces of blood were reportedly found inside the car, further linking it to the crime.

National Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola has praised the collaborative efforts of the Gauteng Provincial Investigations Unit, the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation in KwaZulu-Natal, the Durban Metro K9 Unit, and various private security partners involved in the operation.

The SAPS is appealing to the public for any information that may assist in locating the remaining suspects. Citizens are warned not to approach the individuals but to report any sightings immediately.
