WORCESTER – A well-known traditional healer has been shot and killed at his homestead in Worcester Village, outside Ga-Sekororo. The incident occurred on Sunday, 21 December 2025, at around 17:00.
Police reported that they received information about a man who was found lying with gunshot wounds at Worcester Village. Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered the 67-year-old male victim lying unconscious under the veranda of his home.
Further investigations revealed that a family member arrived home and found the victim in that condition. He then went inside the house, where the victim’s wife was watching television, and informed her that her husband had been shot.
Emergency Medical Services were summoned to the scene and later certified the victim dead. Police also attended the scene and conducted preliminary investigations, during which a 9mm cartridge was recovered. The cartridge will form part of the ongoing investigation.
The deceased has been identified as Michel Maanaso, a respected and well-known traditional healer in the area.
At this stage, the suspects remain unknown, and the motive for the fatal shooting has not yet been established. Police investigations are continuing.
