TZANEEN: The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Limpopo has arrested two Zimbabwean nationals, aged 37 and 48, for allegedly transporting illicit cigarettes valued at R180,000 along the R36 route in Tzaneen.
The suspects were apprehended following a high-speed chase, triggered by a tip-off regarding two white Toyota Corolla Quest vehicles believed to be carrying contraband from Musina to Tzaneen.
The operation was carried out through a joint effort involving the Limpopo Tracking Team, Tshimollo Security and Investigation, and Shadow Secure Security.
The suspects are expected to appear in the Tzaneen Magistrate’s Court on 2 December 2025, facing charges of possession of illicit cigarettes.
Limpopo Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, commended the collaborative effort between the police and private security, noting its importance in disrupting criminal activities in the province.
