CENTURION – Two people have been found deceased after the vehicle they were travelling in was swept away during flooding in Centurion.
According to CERT Centurion, a coordinated search operation was launched on Tuesday, 23 December, following reports that two individuals had been missing since Sunday amid heavy flooding in the area.
After an extensive joint effort, the vehicle was located and successfully recovered. Tragically, both occupants were found deceased inside the vehicle.
CERT Centurion extended its sincere appreciation to all agencies involved for their professionalism, dedication, and cooperation throughout the difficult operation.
These include SAPS Wierdabrug, SAPS Water Wing and Dive Unit, Gauteng Emergency Medical Services Rescue Team, Tshwane Metro Police Department, Tshwane Emergency Services Department, SARZA, Wierdabrug CPF, Emer-G-Med, AfriForum Neighbourhood Watch, Precision Towing, PRSS Holdings, Safe City Projects, Fidelity ADT, Copwatch, Monitor Net, Lapua Strike Force, and other supporting services on scene.
Authorities have once again urged motorists and residents to exercise extreme caution during severe weather conditions and to avoid crossing flooded roads.
