POLOKWANE – Three undocumented foreign nationals posing as “prophets” have been arrested in Penina Park, Polokwane, following a police operation that uncovered fraudulent activities targeting unsuspecting community members.

The suspects, all men aged between 32 and 37, are originally from Uganda. They were apprehended on Wednesday, 10 December 2025, after police received intelligence about individuals conducting fake prophetic services and extorting money from residents under the guise of spiritual intervention.

When officers arrived at the residence in Penina Park, they found the trio allegedly running a scam disguised as a spiritual practice.

Police recovered counterfeit money along with several rats believed to have been used in staged “miracles” meant to deceive victims.

Further investigations revealed that all three suspects were undocumented and in the country illegally. They were arrested on charges related to fraud and contravention of immigration laws.

The suspects are expected to appear in court soon as police continue with investigations to determine the extent of the scam and identify additional victims.

Police have urged community members to report any suspicious activities linked to fraudulent prophets or spiritual healers.
