Somizi Mhlongo, Quinton “Naked DJ” Masina and comedian Vafa Naraghi will host a new television version of the Metro FM relationship feature Ask A Man, Bona Magazine reported.
The show will premiere on S3 on Monday, 2 November 2026, at 19:00. Episodes will also be available on the SABC Plus streaming platform.
“For years, Metro FM has held space for honest conversations about dating, heartbreak, marriage and family,” said Siyanda Fikelephi, acting business manager at Metro FM.
Fikelephi said the feature had grown into more than a radio segment and had become a relationship of trust with listeners. Fikelephi said the TV version would keep giving South Africans a place to share their stories anonymously.
Ask A Man first became popular on Metro FM. On the radio, it gave South Africans a space to talk about dating, heartbreak, marriage and family life.
On television, the hosts will discuss selected stories sent in by the public. Experts will also share advice. All featured stories will stay anonymous to protect the people who send them.
Topics will include dating problems, situationships, heartbreak, marriage and family expectations. The show will also take on hard questions people may not want to ask in the open.
Dichaba Phalatse, marketing manager for video entertainment at the SABC, said the move would build on the bond the feature already has with local audiences.
“Ask A Man has become part of South Africa’s everyday conversations,” Phalatse said. She said the three hosts would bring their own views, humour and life experience to the S3 show.
Somizi is known for his work in choreography, acting, singing, radio and television. He started acting at the age of 13 in the 1987 film Scavengers.
He became more widely known through the 1992 musical film Sarafina.
Naked DJ has been part of Ask A Man on Metro FM for years. He co-hosts on the station, where the feature has built a loyal following over the past ten years.
He is also a music producer who has shared stages with Beyonce, Drake, Mary J. Blige, DJ Jazzy Jeff and Black Coffee. He hosts his own shows, Audiogasm and Saturday Sunsets.
Vafa grew up in Mahikeng with Persian parents. He speaks several South African languages, including Setswana, isiXhosa and Afrikaans.
He first studied civil engineering at the University of Cape Town and later earned a master’s degree in structural engineering. He then left engineering to follow comedy.
Since the career change, Vafa has won two SA Comics Choice Awards. He also received seven more nominations across 2023 and 2024.
