This page explains how Tzaneen Voice articles are made and the rules they follow. We want you to know exactly what you are reading.
How articles are made
- Every article is based on a report already published by a named news outlet, or by SAnews.gov.za, the South African Government News Agency.
- An AI writing system writes the article in plain English from that report.
- Articles are published automatically. They are not checked line by line by a human editor before they go live.
- We do not do our own on-the-ground reporting, interviews or investigations.
Sources and credit
- Every article ends with a note that names the original outlet and links to its report.
- Stories from SAnews are the government’s own account. We say which minister, department or official made each claim, and we do not present those claims as settled fact.
- Articles are rewritten in our own words. We do not copy the original text.
- Quotes are only included when the original report carried them, and they are credited to that report.
- The main image comes from the original report and is credited in the source note. SAnews photos are credited to GCIS, as SAnews asks.
Writing rules
- Facts only. Articles do not include personal opinions or commentary.
- Headlines must match what the article says. No clickbait.
- Plain English with short sentences, so the news is easy for everyone to read.
- Children and victims of sexual violence are never named or identified.
- World stories include a short, factual note on what they mean for South Africa.
Accuracy
AI writing can make mistakes, and a report can change after we publish it. Before you make an important decision about money, health, legal matters or travel, check the original report and official announcements.
Bylines
Each section is published under one desk byline. These are pen names for the section desks, not staff reporters. See Our Team for the list.
Independence
No one pays us to publish or change a news article. The site carries advertising, which is kept separate from articles. Any sponsored content would be clearly labelled as “Sponsored”.
