Six people perish in minibus taxi crash near Dullstroom

DULLSTROOM – Six people tragically lost their lives on Saturday afternoon, 25 October 2025, following a collision between a GWM Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) and a minibus taxi on the R540 near Dullstroom in Mpumalanga.

According to reports, all six deceased were passengers in the taxi and were declared dead at the scene. Eight others sustained serious injuries, including seven passengers and the SUV driver, while the taxi driver escaped with minor injuries.

Emergency services and law enforcement responded swiftly, transporting the injured to a nearby hospital in Belfast for urgent medical attention.

The cause of the crash remains unknown at this stage, and authorities have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the fatal collision.

The Mpumalanga Department of Community Safety has once again urged motorists to exercise caution and adhere to road safety regulations, especially during weekends when traffic volumes tend to increase.
