POLOKWANE – Controversial musician Lehlogonolo “Shebeshxt” Chauke is expected to make another appearance in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court today, 8 December 2025, as his high-profile case returns for further proceedings.
The artist is facing nine serious charges, including several tied to a 19 October incident that left a 34-year-old man critically injured. The victim has reportedly remained in hospital for weeks following the shooting.
The charges fall under Schedule 6, the category reserved for the most serious offences, and include attempted murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm, robbery with aggravating circumstances and assault GBH.
During the last sitting, investigating officer Warrant Officer Phaladi Makola told the court that the firearm linked to the incident has still not been recovered. He also confirmed that the victim remains under medical care. Makola is expected to continue his testimony today.
Meanwhile, Shebeshxt’s legal representative, Advocate Lot Ramusi, has filed a bail application in which the musician has offered R50 000. The court has not yet made a ruling, and today’s hearing may determine whether the application succeeds.
The matter has already seen several postponements as investigators continue adding charges and finalising profiling and forensic reports.
More developments are expected as the case unfolds later today.
