POLOKWANE – The bail application of popular Limpopo artist Shebeshxt, real name Lehlogonolo Chauke, has once again been postponed.
The matter has been moved to 8 December 2025 after Magistrate Godfrey Netshiodzwi announced that the court would be unavailable next week due to his commitments in another jurisdiction.
This means the investigating officer, Detective Phaladi Makola, will continue with his testimony only when the case resumes in December.
During Thursday’s proceedings, the defence submitted Shebeshxt’s bail affidavit, highlighting his personal circumstances and financial responsibilities in an effort to motivate for bail.
According to the affidavit, Shebeshxt has been in a long-term relationship with Kholofelo Chuene, who has been his partner for 13 years.
She is unemployed, financially dependent on him, and heavily pregnant with their child, expected to give birth in the first week of December. Chuene lives with him in Bendor and relies fully on him for both financial and emotional support.
He also has a daughter living with her mother in Krugersdorp. She is in Grade 2, and he contributes R5 000 monthly for her maintenance.
Shebeshxt stated that both his parents are unemployed, and he supports them with R25 000 per month.
Additionally, he financially assists his in-laws with approximately R18 000 monthly and also supports several extended family members who depend on him.
In the affidavit, he explained that he is not formally employed but earns a living as a recording and performing artist with an established profile across South Africa. He also runs a small entertainment business employing five people — two dancers, a driver, a manager, and a booking manager — all of whom rely on him for their salaries.
He outlined the salaries he pays: dancers R4 500, manager R2 000, route manager R3 000, and booking manager R3 500 monthly. His income fluctuates, and during busy periods he earns around R180 000 per month, though this depends entirely on bookings.
Since his detention, he has missed at least seven scheduled gigs, resulting in a significant financial setback, not only for him but also for his employees.
He added that he is booked for numerous festive-season events, for which he has already received deposits or full payments and is scheduled as a headliner.
His affidavit includes his gig guide and supporting affidavits from event organisers.
The case, which continues to draw public attention, will return to court on 8 December, when further testimony will be heard. #fblifesty
