TJIBENG — A man accused of murdering his girlfriend was killed by community members shortly after the incident in Tjibeng Village, Sekhukhune District, Limpopo, on Friday, 26 December 2025.
According to preliminary police investigations, a 38-year-old woman was found lying in a pool of blood with a deep cut to her throat. She was allegedly attacked and killed by her 40-year-old boyfriend.
It is further alleged that prior to the attack, the victim had locked herself inside the house, fearing for her life.
The suspect reportedly gained entry after convincing a family member to let him inside. Once inside the house, he allegedly attacked and killed the victim before fleeing through a window.
During his escape, the victim’s younger brother pursued him and managed to apprehend him. However, the suspect allegedly stabbed the brother several times before fleeing again. The injured brother later collapsed and was rushed to hospital, where he is receiving medical treatment.
Community members later joined the pursuit and apprehended the suspect near a local tavern. He was allegedly assaulted with various objects, including stones, and sustained serious injuries. Emergency services certified him dead at the scene.
Police in Limpopo have opened two cases of murder and one case of attempted murder. Investigations are ongoing.
