Man stabbed to death in tavern in Mankweng

POLOKWANE – A 30-year-old man has been arrested after a man was stabbed to death during an argument at a tavern in Ga-Mokgopo Village near Mankweng on Saturday, 25 October 2025.

According to Limpopo police spokespersons, officers received a report of a stabbing incident at around 07:30 in the morning. Upon arrival, they discovered that the victim had already been rushed to Mankweng Hospital, where he was later declared dead upon arrival.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect and the victim were allegedly involved in a heated argument, which escalated into a violent altercation that led to the fatal stabbing.

Police managed to trace and arrest the suspect shortly after the incident, thanks to swift investigative work and information provided by witnesses at the scene.

The motive for the attack is not yet known, and investigations are continuing to determine the exact circumstances that led to the confrontation.

The South African Police Service in Sebayeng confirmed that the 30-year-old suspect will appear before the Mankweng Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 27 October 2025, on a charge of murder.

The incident has sparked renewed concern over the high levels of alcohol-related violence in taverns across Limpopo, with police urging communities to report disputes before they escalate into deadly confrontations.
