MOPJE VILLAGE- The 32-year-old man hailing from Bolobedu south has been handed a life sentence to direct prison by the Polokwane High Court for the murder of his ex-girlfriend.
Steven Mahlatsi Rapelwana from Khethone, Mopje Village in Bolobedu, was on Tuesday, October 11 sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering his ex-girlfriend with a pair of scissors in the 2020 Christmas eve.
Nancy Selomo aged 21 in times of her gruesome death, was certified dead in the wee hours of 26, December 2020 after being stabbed 23 times all over her body with a pair of scissors by her obsessed ex-boyfriend, Rapelwana, who allegedly could not handle the break up.
The publication revealed after the occurrence of the incident in December, 2020, that both Rapelwana and Nancy were partying at the same local tavern in Ga-Kubjana village, where the murder convict allegedly could not stomach watching the deceased becoming aromatic towards him and moving on with her life.
After spotting the deceased leaving the local tavern at about 03;00 am, in the company of her friends, he then accosted and confronted her for ditching him.
The duo fell into a heated argument which resulted in Rapelwana pulling out a pair of scissors and continuously stabbing the deceased.
The Tzaneen Police Spokesperson Sergeant Maurice Nkhwashu confirmed that Rapelwana was out on parole when committing murder.
