OMN1, a super app built in South Africa, will launch nationally in Johannesburg on Thursday, 5 November 2026. The app combines e-hailing, food delivery, creator earnings and messaging on one platform, TechFinancials reported.

The company said drivers on its Move service will keep 85% of every fare. It said this share applies to each completed trip. There are no tiers or performance conditions attached.

“Drivers are not a cost line to be optimised. They are the business,” said Livhuwani Mutavhatatsindi, chief executive officer of OMN1.

“If a driver can’t cover fuel, finance, and maintenance and still take something home, the model has failed, no matter how good the technology looks,” he said. He added that the 85% split shows the app was built for South African conditions.

According to the company, the driver model was planned around the real costs drivers face. These include fuel, car finance, repairs and household bills.

OMN1 has already signed up drivers in person in Johannesburg. Move currently runs in Midrand, Sandton, Rosebank and the Johannesburg CBD and inner city. The company said it plans to expand after the national launch.

The second part of the plan is aimed at content creators. Through the OMN1 Creators Fund, South African creators can qualify once they reach 3,000 followers.

Creators earn points, and each point is worth 20 cents. Each creator can earn up to R50,000 a month. OMN1 said it aims to have 1,000 South African creators earning at least R20,000 a month.

“There is enormous creative talent in this country that has never seen a cent from it,” Mutavhatatsindi said.

“We wanted a model where a creator with a few thousand followers in Tembisa or Khayelitsha can earn real money, without waiting to be discovered,” he said.

The app has four main parts. Move handles e-hailing and OMN1 Dine handles food delivery. OMN1 Hub and the Creators Fund cover creator earnings, while Connect is used for messaging.

The company said the idea came from watching how people switch between many apps each day. People use one app to travel, another to order food and others to chat.

Mutavhatatsindi said South Africans have used platforms built and priced in other countries for more than ten years.

“There is no reason a world-class super app can’t be built here. That is what the fifth of November is about,” he said.

OMN1 has been available on Google Play and the Apple App Store since a soft launch in August 2026. The official national launch takes place in Johannesburg on 5 November 2026.
