LETSITELE-A fatal vehicle accident on Saturday morning between Letsitele and Mafarane has claimed the lives of four people, including a prominent Popcru leader in Limpopo.
Patience Shingange, a member of the Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) of the Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union (POPCRU), tragically lost her life when the car she was travelling in collided with a minibus taxi.
Alongside Shingange, her child, aunt, and colleague also perished in the crash.
The accident has sent shockwaves through the community and beyond. Limpopo MEC for Transport and Community Safety, Ms. Violet Mathye, expressed deep sorrow over the loss.
In a statement, she extended condolences to the leadership of POPCRU in Limpopo and to the Shingange family.
“This is a devastating loss not only to the family but to the entire province. We mourn alongside the Shingange family and the POPCRU leadership,” said MEC Mathye.
Shingange’s death comes as the province has been amplifying its road safety awareness campaigns, especially with increased travel over the long weekend.
MEC Mathye emphasized the importance of caution during this period and urged all motorists to prioritize road safety.
