MARBLE HALL – Tragedy struck in Leewfontein RDP section, Marble Hall, after a 23-year-old pregnant woman was brutally stabbed to death, allegedly by her boyfriend, on Tuesday, 19 August 2025.
Police spokespersons confirmed that officers rushed to the scene after receiving information from community members. On arrival, they found the young woman lying in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds.
Paramedics were summoned but certified her dead at the scene.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect, a 31-year-old man believed to be her boyfriend, fled immediately after the incident. Acting on intelligence, police tracked him down and arrested him in Elandskraal in the early hours of Wednesday, 20 August 2025.
Further investigations revealed that the victim was four months pregnant at the time of her death. Shockingly, it has also emerged that in May this year, the same suspect was arrested for assault with grievous bodily harm (GBH) against the victim. Although he appeared in the Groblersdal Magistrate’s Court several times, the case was withdrawn in July 2025 after the victim submitted a withdrawal statement.
The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has strongly condemned the killing, describing it as another painful reminder of the ongoing scourge of gender-based violence in the province.
The suspect has been charged with murder and is expected to appear before the Groblersdal Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 21 August 2025.
