POLOKWANE – A 49-year-old foreign national has been arrested after he was found in possession of an alleged stolen vehicle along the N1 in Polokwane.
Acting on intelligence about a suspected stolen vehicle travelling towards the city, operational teams launched an anti-smuggling operation and closely monitored the vehicle.
The Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid, valued at approximately R400,000, was intercepted upon entering Polokwane.
A preliminary investigation confirmed that the vehicle had been reported stolen in Heidelberg, Gauteng, in January 2025.
The suspect was immediately taken into custody and is expected to appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 10 September 2025, facing charges of possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
Police investigations are continuing to establish whether the suspect is linked to a larger vehicle smuggling syndicate.
