POLOKWANE – Hundreds of mourners gathered at the URC Church in Serala View, Polokwane, to bid a final farewell to Eden Square Phalaborwa Centre Manager, Machoene Sejeng, who was laid to rest following her passing earlier this week.
Sejeng passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, a journey she openly shared to inspire and educate others. Born Machuene Cathrine Sejeng on 14 July 1990, she was the daughter of Ezekiel and Joyce Sejeng.
She received her early education at PEPPS before attending PEMPS, and later completed her high school education at Capricorn High School. Driven by a passion for excellence, she went on to further her studies at the IMM Graduate School, where she obtained a diploma and a postgraduate diploma in Marketing. She also completed qualifications in Retail Centre Management and Real Estate Practice.
Machoene built a successful and respected career in retail centre management, working in both Gauteng and Limpopo. At the time of her passing, she was serving as Retail Centre Manager and Commercial Property Manager at Mowana Properties, where she was widely admired for her professionalism, leadership and work ethic.
She is survived by her parents, Ezekiel and Joyce Sejeng, and her sister, Cynthia.
In her honour, Eden Square, together with various stakeholders, hosted a candlelight ceremony to celebrate her life and contribution to the retail sector and the community at large.
Beyond her professional achievements, Machoene Sejeng was remembered for her warm personality, charismatic spirit and radiant smile that could light up any room.
She was also a passionate cancer activist, particularly in the fight against breast cancer. Through sharing her personal journey, she encouraged women to perform regular self-examinations and to prioritise medical check-ups.
Tributes also poured in from organisations close to her heart. Skontiri Travel and Adventures, a hiking and travel club of which she was a member, paid tribute to her, while Marulamed honoured her remarkable and impactful ambassadorship in breast cancer awareness.
Machoene Sejeng’s legacy lives on through the lives she touched, the awareness she raised, and the inspiration she gave to many through her strength, compassion and dedication.
