Another woman (55) raped and robbed while sleeping in Botlokwa

BOTLOKWA – Police in Limpopo have arrested a 25-year-old male suspect following a brutal house robbery in which a 55-year-old woman was raped and robbed while sleeping at her home in Sephala Section, Mokomene Village near Botlokwa on Tuesday night, 28 October 2025, around 23:10.

According to police reports, the victim was asleep when she heard dishes falling in the kitchen. Upon investigating the noise, she was startled to find one of the items she had kept in the fridge placed on the table. Moments later, an unknown man appeared and attacked her with a steel rod, demanding money.

The suspect then dragged the woman to her bedroom while threatening to kill her if she did not hand over cash. Fearing for her life, the victim opened a firearm safe and gave him money, but the suspect demanded more.

He then took a 9mm pistol from the safe, struck the woman on her face and head, and continued to rape her before fleeing the scene with cash and the firearm.

Police were alerted shortly after the incident and launched an immediate manhunt.

A 25-year-old male suspect was later arrested and charged with house robbery, assault, attempted murder, and possession of an unlicensed firearm.

The victim was taken to a local hospital where she is receiving medical treatment for her injuries.
