Soweto Fashion Week will hold its Spring/Summer 2026 season from 5 to 7 November at Soweto Theatre in Jabulani, Soweto. The event will bring together new designers, known fashion brands and creatives from across South Africa, Bona reported.

The three nights of shows follow the Autumn/Winter season earlier in 2026. Organisers said the collections will celebrate colour, movement, prints and local identity.

“Expect bold colours, a real celebration of who we are as South Africans, and a collection that carries stories you can feel,” designer Luthando Mbobo said.

Mbobo founded Mbobo Movement, a patchwork and denim label. He will show on the second night of the event. He first appeared at Soweto Fashion Week in the Autumn/Winter 2026 Emerging Designers Bloc.

His move to the main show marks a big step for the brand, according to the report. Mbobo said the label would bring its growth and experiences to the main stage.

Since the last show, Mbobo Movement was nominated for Best Emerging Fashion Designer at the South Africa Fashion Awards. The brand also started making children’s clothes and showed them at SA Kids Fashion Week.

The opening night will focus on young talent. Nine emerging designers will present their work on the runway in the Emerging Designers Bloc.

RFL Studios, Zimisele and Shirley Joseph are among the designers on the first night. Fashion students from the University of Johannesburg and Tshwane University of Technology will also show their designs.

Other brands on the second night include Precious Lulu Couture, KwaZulu Fashion Hut and Originally Kasified. More designers will join them on the runway.

The final night will mix fashion with the arts. Television presenter Ayanda Nhlapo will present her brand, House of Ayanda, on the runway.

Afro-soul and R&B singer Wanda Baloyi will show her label, Wanda Wear by Wanda Baloyi. The closing line-up will also include Hoss by Sass by Sanele Thabethe and Dope Store.

Organisers said the event gives designers a place to share their creative work and meet people in the fashion industry. They said it also helps more people around the world notice South African design.

The report said South African designers are getting more attention overseas. It said interest in local fashion at home is also growing.

Soweto Fashion Week started in 2011. It has grown into one of the country’s main fashion platforms, with a focus on helping local designers build their careers.

The platform also represents South Africa at the BRICS International Fashion Federation. That group links fashion industries from emerging markets on four continents.

Tickets for the Spring/Summer 2026 shows are on sale through Webtickets. Prices start at R150.
