The City of Cape Town has named the artists for its 57th Festive Lights Switch-On. The free event will take place on Sunday, 29 November 2026.
The show will run from 4pm to 10pm at the Grand Parade and along Adderley Street in the Cape Town CBD, IOL reported.
“It is also about bringing people together through the things that make Cape Town special: Our music, our culture, our creativity and our incredible talent,” said Alderman JP Smith, the Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security.
SAMA award winners Jazzwrld and Thukuthela will bring Amapiano to the stage. Liquideep, who are back together as a duo, will play some of their classic songs.
Hip hop star Nasty C is also on the line-up. Afrikaans singer and former Idols contestant Monique Steyn will perform too.
Local talent will also get time on stage. Woodstock-born singer, rapper and actor Ricky Vani Frontline will make his second Festive Lights appearance. He first performed at the event in 2023.
Khayelitsha rapper Dee Koala, known for her bold style and hip hop sound, will join him. DJ Dre, who hosts a breakfast show on Heart FM, will play mixes through the day.
Pop singer Ben Rodrigues and Cape Town guitarist Vernon White are also set to perform. White sings in English, Afrikaans and isiXhosa.
Neon Pulse will put on an LED drumming show. The West London All Stars will also perform on the night.
Radio presenter Tyrone Paulsen and comedian Dalin Oliver will be the MCs for the afternoon and evening.
Smith said the event was about more than starting the festive season. He said it also celebrated the year that had passed and looked ahead to a new one.
“This year’s line-up promises something for everyone, from established stars to the homegrown performers who continue to put our city on the map,” Smith said.
The yearly dance competition is also back. The top three dancers from the Move with Melody Dance Competition will perform on the main stage.
Before that, 10 dance crews will compete at the V&A Waterfront Amphitheatre on 21 November 2026. The top three will be chosen there.
Dancers can post video entries on Instagram, TikTok or Facebook and tag @CTfestivelights with the hashtag #FLSODance2026. Entries can also be sent by WhatsApp to 076 179 7047.
Entries for the dance competition close on 9 November 2026.
