MultiChoice Group has announced a new dark psychological thriller with production company Stained Glass TV. The news was shared on the opening day of FAME Week Africa 2026 in Cape Town.

Nomsa Philiso, Chief Content Officer for Africa at MultiChoice Group, revealed the show during a panel session. The session was called “Meet the CANAL+, MultiChoice Group, STUDIOCANAL Team”.

“We’ve walked a long road with Stained Glass TV and have shared in the success of some truly memorable stories over the years. This announcement feels like a full-circle moment for our partnership,” Philiso said.

“They continue to challenge creative boundaries while remaining deeply connected to African audiences, and we’re excited to continue working together on stories that are bold, distinctive and impossible to ignore,” she added.

The panel brought together content bosses and commissioning leads from CANAL+, MultiChoice Group and STUDIOCANAL. They spoke about how shows are made across Africa and what kinds of stories they want to pay for.

No title, cast or release date for the thriller was given in the report. Executives from both companies described it as a move into a new style for the partnership.

According to InBound SA, the new show will mix deep character stories with suspense. It will be made to the standard of high-end drama.

MultiChoice Group now operates as a CANAL+ company. The announcement was part of a wider set of new shows from the group at the Cape Town industry market.

Stained Glass TV was started by Kobedi “Pepsi” Pokane and Gugu Zuma-Ncube. The company is known for local shows that reflect everyday South African life.

The two companies have worked together for about ten years. Their shows have broken ratings records and helped grow television made in local languages, according to the report.

Stained Glass TV has also made original shows for global streaming services such as Netflix. This has helped the studio take African stories to viewers around the world.

The thriller was one of several new shows MultiChoice announced on the first day of the Cape Town event.

Earlier that day, the broadcaster confirmed that Die Kantoor will return for a second season. The Afrikaans comedy is a local version of the BBC show The Office.

MultiChoice said Die Kantoor was renewed after viewers responded well to the first season.

According to the report, the new shows form part of the group’s plan under CANAL+ to spend money on scripted shows made in South Africa. The plan also includes long-term deals with local production companies and support for local talent.
