Promising debating learner killed after being struck by a truck near the BP garage at Unit C in Mankweng

MANKWENG – Tragedy struck on Monday evening when a promising debating learner, 15-year-old John Magoro, a Grade 10 student at Ditlalemeso Secondary School, was killed after being hit by a truck near the BP garage at Unit C in Mankweng.

The incident reportedly occurred at around 5pm while John was attempting to cross the road. Emergency services were called to the scene, but he was pronounced dead.

Polokwane Municipality has extended its deepest condolences to the Magoro family. Executive Mayor Cllr Makoro John Mpe, together with a high-level municipal delegation, visited the grieving family to offer comfort and support during this incredibly difficult time.

The tragedy occurred along the ongoing dual carriageway construction project between Paledi Mall and the University of Limpopo precinct.

The municipality expressed profound sorrow and has committed to fully cooperating with all investigations while ensuring the family receives necessary support and assistance.
