28-year-old suspect arrested with dagga worth R70 000 along R37 road

LEBOWAKGOMO – A 28-year-old man has been arrested for possession of drugs after being found with two large bags of dagga weighing 100 kilograms, with an estimated street value of R70,000, along the R37 road.

According to police reports, the suspect, an African male, was driving a silver VW Polo allegedly en route to Lebowakgomo to deliver the drugs when he was apprehended.

Police confiscated the vehicle, valued at R180,000, as it was reportedly used in the commission of the crime. The total value of the seized exhibits amounts to approximately R250,000.

The suspect is currently detained at Mecklenburg SAPS and is expected to appear before the Praktiseer Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 10 November 2025, facing a charge of possession of drugs.

Police have reaffirmed their commitment to intensifying efforts to curb drug trafficking and related crimes across the province.
