Zimbabwean man sentenced to prison for assaulting a police officer in Modjadjiskloof

MODJADJIDKLOOF-A Zimbabwean national man will spend 9 months in prison after he punched an officer in the face and was in the country illegally.

It is alleged that the accused Chineka Anotida refused to be arrested and hit a police official with an open hand after refusing to be fined for public drinking and hindering police from arresting another suspect.

The police officer knowing the law only dealt with the suspects through the law and has successfully made a deterrence.

According to Modjadjiskloof SAPS Communication officer Sgt Mabulane, the accused was convicted of 3 months direct imprisonment on charges of assault on Police and 6 months direct imprisonment after it was discovered that he was in the country illegally.

“The conducts of the police official Constable  have portrayed patriotism and law-abiding and that he understands the chains and directs of law on enforcement and decided not to retaliate” said the station commander L.t Colonel Makgadi

Mr Chinaka will also be deported to his country of origin.
