Phalaborwa’s Beloved Royal Great-Granddaughter Laid to Rest in Emotional Send-Off

MAKHUSHANE – Mohlakiseng Pertunia Mashile, a cherished great-granddaughter of Malatji’s royal family, was laid to rest at Sebera Cemetery in Makhushane, in an emotional farewell that drew the community together to honour her memory.

Sebera Cemetery, uniquely divided into male and female sections, is reserved exclusively for members of the royal family. Pertunia Mashile was interred on the female side, a place where the great daughters, aunts, and wives of the royal family have been laid to rest.a

The funeral service, held at the Namakgale Town Hall, saw numerous speakers paying tribute to Mashile’s character and contributions. She was consistently described as a kind-hearted person who loved people and demonstrated remarkable dedication and hard work in all her endeavours. Her colleagues spoke of her as a committed and dedicated employee, highlighting her positive impact on everyone around her.

Born on October 8, 1989, in Acornhoek, Mashile was the firstborn child of Rakantle Mary Malatji and the late Motion Abel Mashile. Her educational journey began at Green Valley Early Learning Centre from 1993 to 1995, followed by Kgwaditiba Primary School from 1996 to 2002. She continued her education at Relebogile High School from 2003 to 2006 before moving to Pretoria, where she completed Level 4 at Meridian College.

Mashile’s professional career included roles at Two Mountains Funeral Services and Liberty Life, where she worked as an administrator, agent, and caretaker from 2012 to 2014. In 2014, she joined Pep Stores as a store manager, where she continued to excel until her untimely passing on June 14, 2024.

She is survived by her beloved mother, Rakantle Mary Malatji, her six siblings, and her son, Ditebogo Motion Mashile. Mashile was also a devoted member of the Zion Christian Church.
