Woman sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for killing her twin sister

POLOKWANE: The Mokopane Regional Court sentenced a 35-year-old woman to 15 years imprisonment for the murder of her twin sister at Ga Mogotlane village on Wednesday 18, January 2023.

The accused was found guilty of murder. During the trial, the court heard how the accused attacked her twin sister after they got into a heated argument and stabbed her with a knife several times until she died at their residence, and she further chopped the sister with an axe before fleeing the scene.

The accused handed herself to Moletlane police station on Friday, 20 January 2023, and she was arrested then.

The case was assigned to Sergeant Rodney Mothiba, and he diligently worked on the case to ensure that the accused was denied bail until she was found guilty.

The accused was sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment for the murder of her twin sister.

The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has welcomed the sentence and said no one has to take away somebody’s life even with the slightest provocation.
