In the house Regina was staying with her child together with the Mozambican boyfriend, who she has been dating for four years. The family spokesperson, Matome Mahasha said that the couple was always fighting when one or two of them were under the influence of alcohol and the family would intervene when called upon by the child, since the child was not home, the parents were informed by the neighbours of this incident. It is stated that on the day of the incident the accused was not drunk.
“My aunt was trying to protect herself from the furious boyfriend who was hitting her with a sharp object repeatedly,” Mahasha mentioned. He further mentioned that, he believes that his aunt is innocent because she murdered her boyfriend in self defense.
