Woman in Court on Murder Charges

GA- KGAPANE-A 49- year-old woman appeared in the Kgapane Magistrate Court on November 17, in connection with a murder that took place last Saturday at around 22:00.
A resident of Miroroni village, Regina Mahasha appeared in court where she was released on a warning pending further investigation by police. Her case was postponed to November 24.
Mahasha allegedly chopped her 30 year old boyfriend with a sharp object that he used to hit her during an argument. It is further alleged that the deceased came back home late drunk and started to assault the accused who was sleeping with a sharp object, however with the accused’s resilience the sharp object fell down and she instantly grabbed it and hit the deceased on the head until he died.
In the house Regina was staying with her child together with the Mozambican boyfriend, who she has been dating for four years. The family spokesperson, Matome Mahasha said that the couple was always fighting when one or two of them were under the influence of alcohol and the family would intervene when called upon by the child, since the child was not home, the parents were informed by the neighbours of this incident. It is stated that on the day of the incident the accused was not drunk.
“My aunt was trying to protect herself from the furious boyfriend who was hitting her with a sharp object repeatedly,” Mahasha mentioned. He further mentioned that, he believes that his aunt is innocent because she murdered her boyfriend in self defense.
“I have no knowledge of what is going to happen with the deceased since he was not a south African citizen and the family has distanced themselves from burying the deceased,” he concluded.
