KGAPANE-A fire broke out in a house in the wee hours of Monday morning at Kgapane, Greater Letaba, leaving a trail of destruction.
Reports indicate that a middle-aged woman was in the house with her grandchild when the fire broke out in the house around 2 am. Witnesses at the scene said that they suspect the victim died due to smoke inhalation. The grandchild survived the ordeal unscathed.
According to Bolobedu police Colonel Ramphele, the cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
“We can confirm that the incident happened. Preliminary reports indicate that the fire might have started from the plugs. Nonetheless, further details will be revealed by forensic pathologists after they have assessed the scene”, Ramphele said.
Police investigations are continuing.
