The ongoing strike by employees of Westfalia Tzaneen operations that commenced on Friday, May 26, has prompted the company to seek legal action.
This comes after two previously reported protest actions that took place at the headquarters on March 15 and 23 respectively. The workers previously averred that they are revolting as a result of cuts in their wages.
According to the company’s communication specialist Bomikazi Molapo, this development has prompted the company to approach the Johannesburg high court to seek legal action against the workers because the strike action is considered “illegal”. Thus, the court has ruled that the workers must return to their workstations pronto.
“An immediate halt of the strike was instructed. We are fully committed to resolving this situation promptly while ensuring the seamless continuation of our operations”, said Molapo
