THOHOYANDOU: A University of Venda student who jumped out of the window of her room on the second floor at the campus residence is receiving health care assistance at Tshilidzi Hospital in Shayandima.
The student locked herself in her room and jumped out of the window allegedly in an attempt to take her own life on Sunday night.
University of Venda spokesperson, Dr Takalani Dzaga has on Monday confirmed that they received information that the student is doing well at the hospital.
Dzaga further said the student will be referred to the campus student council after being discharged from the hospital.
Some students who witnessed the horrific fall say that they are still traumatized by the ordeal, however, they are grateful that she is alive.
The reasons that led to the suicide attempt are still unknown at this stage.
