TZANEEN-Following the calls by the EFF for a National Day of Shutdown, today, (March 20), reports have surfaced of many shopping areas being deserted throughout the country.
A great number of Businesses have closed, heeding the calls of the shutdown, mostly out of fear of reprisals.
Tzaneen car dealerships have also closed shop and removed all the cars that were on display from their dealerships.
Dealerships such as KIA. Hyundai and Lanny’s motors removed all the vehicles that are normally on display but they continued their operation even though the business was very slow.
The day so far has been relatively free of violence as police & CPF volunteers, patrol the streets.
Even the high amount of taxis normally seen in the parking lot in the CBD was not there.
The party leader Julius Malema issued a stern warning to businesses on Wednesday, advising them to close shop.
