Two suspects accused of stealing large sums of money in foreign currency concealed” under mattress and couches at President Raphosa’s Phalaphala farm appeared in court

BELA – BELA : Imanuwela David (39) and Froliana Joseph (30) appeared before the Bela-Bela Magistrate’s Court in the Waterberg District this morning.

The duo are facing multiple charges varying from conspiracy to commit housebreaking with intent to steal and theft, Housebreaking with intent to steal, Housebreaking with intent to steal and theft as well as Money Laundering.

The Nation Prosecuting Authority in Limpopo has confirmed that an amount of $580,000 ( about R10 Million ) was stolen at President Cyril Ramaphosa’s Phala Phala game farm back in 2020.

The court heard that Floriana, who was employed as a domestic worker at the Phala Phala Farm, has requested that her newborn baby be brought to her cell to be breastfed at least three times a day.

NPA Spokesperson Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi says the arrest of a third suspect is imminent.

The case of the two suspects will return to the Bela-Bela Magistrate’s Court on Friday, the 10th of November.
