GIYANI-Two Police officers attached to Giyani Police station and one other person were injured in a horrific accident involving a police van and a sedan on Wednesday morning, November 02.
The accident occurred on R81 towards Bode Village at approximately 04 am.
Giyani Police Communication Officer, Constable Ridgewell Rikhotso told Tzaneen Voice that a Toyota Corolla was travelling from Nwamankena to Giyani while the police Van was from Giyani direction to Nwamankena before the accident.
“There was a taxi that was travelling in front of the Corolla and that taxi suddenly stopped on the road to load the passenger, and the driver of the sedan changed lanes and collided with the police vehicle travelling in the opposite direction.
“The two police officers and driver of the Toyota Corolla were transported to a nearby hospital to receive medical care.
Giyani police are investigating an instance of recklessness/ negligent driving.
