LEMONDOKOP-Two drivers lost their lives in a head collision between an ambulance and a sedan on Friday, March 29.

The ambulance was responding to an accident scene in Bellevue village when the collision happened on the R81 Road at the Lemondokop turn.

Tragically, both drivers involved in the collision lost their lives upon impact, while the ambulance assistant, three patients on the ambulance and the three occupants of the SUV survived.

Health MEC Dr Phophi Ramathuba will be visiting the Ambulance Assistant in the hospital who survived a devastating head-on collision between an ambulance and an SUV.

All the survivors are currently receiving medical treatment at various hospitals. MEC Dr Phophi Ramathuba is saddened by this horrific accident and is keen to personally extend her support and well-wishes to the courageous individual who is bravely battling through this difficult time.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the risks and challenges faced by emergency responders and healthcare professionals in the line of duty.

The Department of Health extends its deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased drivers and reaffirms its commitment to supporting all those affected by this tragedy.

MEC Dr Phophi Ramathuba’s visit to the hospital is a gesture of solidarity and appreciation for the dedication and sacrifices made by ambulance emergency personnel across the province.
