POLOKWANE-Two drunk drivers were arrested on Saturday in Polokwane, Limpopo, after attempting to bribe National Traffic Police officers with cash in exchange for avoiding arrest.

One suspect allegedly offered a R100 bribe, while another attempted to hand over R600 to convince officers to ignore the drunk driving offence.

These arrests follow a similar incident on Friday on the N1 in Mokopane, where another driver was caught under the influence during a routine traffic operation. He allegedly tried to offer a R300 bribe — commonly referred to as a “cold drink” — to the officers.

In all cases, the alert officers rejected the bribes and arrested the suspects, who now face charges of drunk driving and bribery.
