POLOKWANE-Two people were killed in a head-on collision involving an SUV and a bakkie on the N1, Polokwane, near Lunds on Tuesday morning.
The collision happened when the driver of the SUV reportedly lost control of the vehicle and veered into oncoming traffic, colliding with the bakkie.
The female driver of the SUV was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the bakkie sustained serious injuries and was treated on site before being transported to a nearby medical facility. He later passed on.
The N1 was temporarily closed to allow emergency personnel to clear the scene but has since been reopened to motorists.
