TVET College Student Raped and robbed in Namakgale

NAMAKGALE – Two female Tvet College students in Namakgale have been left traumatised after they were allegedly assaulted, robbed and one of them raped by two armed men at their off-campus residence in the early hours of this Wednesday, May 18.

The students, aged 23 and 27, were reportedly asleep in one room at about 00h30 when they were allegedly awoken by the sound of the burglar door that was being broken. Two men wearing face masks suddenly gained access into the room and demanded money and cell phones at gun point.

After taking a cell phone, the suspects then ordered the victims to accompany them to the nearest bushes where they allegedly started assaulting them, demanding money and more cell phones. One of the suspects went back to the room to take more items.

Both suspects allegedly raped the 27-year-old victim, tied both of them and left the scene. The victims managed to untie themselves and on arrival in their room, they allegedly found the following valuables missing: Two cell phones, cash money, Iron, Identity document, Nike sports bag, red sports bag, a Jersey and Blankets

The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has urged community members to assist the police in tracking down the suspects.

Cases of housebreaking, house robbery, assault and rape were opened and police investigations are continuing.
