POLOKWANE-The Limpopo Health Department is reeling from shock after the death of Dr Donny Mokumo Senior Clinical Manager of Mokopane Hospital
Dr Mokumo passed on together with a family member on Monday, July 03 in a motor vehicle accident on the N1 north next to the Ranch.
The 32-year-old Dr Mokumo from Royston Village joined the department as an intern doctor stationed at Mokopane Hospital in 2015.
He went on to do his community services at Thabamoopo Psychatric Hopsital. He was appointed a medical officer at W.F Knobel Hospital.
Due to his brilliance and diligence, he was appointed in 2018 as the Senior Clinical Manager of Mokopane Regional Hospital, making him the youngest appointed senior clinical manager in the province at the time. Though he was young, he rose to the occassion and brought stability in the leadership and clinical governance of the hospital.
Health MEC Dr Phophi Ramathuba described Dr Mokumo’s passing as an immense loss to the people of the province.
“Death has once again robbed us of one of our shinning stars. Dr Mokumo was not only a capable young doctor, but he was a passionate doctor who loved the people of his province. He lived, dreamt and breathed rural health.
“His passing is just too painful to even contemplate. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family, colleagues at the entire Limpopo Department of Health as well friends, the gift that keeps on giving is no more” said a devastated MEC Ramathuba.
The Limpopo Department of Health indicated that the details of the memorial service and funeral will be announced after they consulted the family.
